Sunday Aug 22 we went to the North Harrison Band car show. Some very nice cars and trucks were there. We had 11 cars representing our club. Garry and Pam Bushau (Top 50), Marty and Brenda Clegg, Mike and Linda Crosby (Top 50), Bill and Pat Gibson, Jonathan and Debbie Hunt, Larry Mayfield (Top 50), Steve and Nancy Merritt, Mike and Nancy Purlee (Top 50), Wendell Roark (Top 50), Phil and Rose Ann Schieber, Bill and Marcia Smith with Rachael (Top 50). The DJ played a special song for Rachaels 12th birthday. Plenty of good food and music was on hand.

Falls City Mustang Club was well represented at the Virginia Beach MCA show with 5 of our Mustangs. 330 beautiful Mustangs were gathered for the show. The weather was great, mostly in the 80s. Some members took a dip in the ocean, and a ferry boat ride in the Chesapeake Bay. Receiving gold awards, David and Patsy Boling, Mike and Linda Crosby, Jonathan and Debbie Hunt, John and Bonnie Mynhier, Larry Rixman. Fred Barkley and Debbie Monbeck won 1st place in daily driven with their 2006 Mustang.

August 15th 12 Mustangs traveled to the Charlestown Police Reserves Car Show and Burnout held at the Clark County Fairgrounds. The burnout was a fun event to watch even in the 100 degree heat. Steve Merritt won the Best Ford award with his Mach I. Brenda Clegg, Marty Clegg, Bill and Pat Gibson, Larry Mayfield, Nancy Merritt, Fred Meyer, Mike and Nancy Purlee, Mike Rains, Phil and Rose Ann Schieber, Bill and Marcia Smith and daughter Rachael, Jason Whal all took home top 50 awards.Ken Barrett and Wendell Roark came to support the club but did not bring their Mustangs. After the show Marty and Brenda Clegg, Bill and Pat Gibson, Steve and Nancy Merritt, Mike and Nancy Purlee, Bill, Marcia and Rachael Smith all went to Tumbleweed for dinner.

Saturday August 14th we went to the Westport River Daze Car Show in Westport KY. The attendance was way down because of the extreme hot weather. There were four Mustangs from our club, Marty and Brenda Clegg, Bill and Pat Gibson, Steve and Nancy Merritt, Mike Rains. It was a Top 30 show but there were only 21 vehicles there so needless to say we all brought home a trophy.

On Sunday August 8th Marty and Brenda Clegg along with Mike and Nancy Purlee went to the North Vernon Car Show. It was a very hot day but we were able to park where there was lots of shade and in front of an ice cream store. Mike won a door prize for 2 tickets to the Kentucky Speedway. Marty and Brenda, Mike and Nancy took home a Top 21 trophy by popular vote.


A group went to the Louisville Classic Open Show n’ shine at the Masonic Homes on Saturday July 31st. Those attending were: Allen Brewer, Debbie Carden, Paul and Jenny Frisbee, Bill and Pat Gibson, Steve and Nancy Merritt, Larry Mayfield, Mike and Nancy Purlee, Larry Rixman. Everyone came home with a door prize, Bill and Pat, Larry Mayfield won cash prizes. It was hot but everyone had a good time and there was plenty of food, ice cream and water to help keep us cool. After the show some of us went to Raffertys to eat, Queen City club members joined us. Later we went to the Derby City cruise-in with Allen Brewer and Debbie Carden, Steve and Vickie Fetter, Frank and Therese Hayden, Bill and Pat Gibson, Rick and Renee Markoski, Steve Merritt, Mike and Nancy Purlee, Larry Rixman joining up. Frank and Therese won the 50/50 pot.

Friday evening July 30th we went to the Southern High School Car Show held at the Sonic drive-in in Louisville. We had 16 cars from the club there. Steve and Nancy Merritt won “Best Engine”, Jonathan and Debbie Hunt won “Best Ford”, Mike and Linda Crosby won “Best Paint". Also winning awards were: Marty and Brenda Clegg, Paul and Jenny Frisbee, Tom Fugate, Bill and Pat Gibson, Rich and Renee Markoski, Mike and Nancy Purlee, Mike Rains, Larry Rixman, John and Christine Rosson, Norm and Jeanette Skees, Tony Skees and Janette Deal, Bill and Marcia Smith and daughter Rachael, Joe and Bev Thornsberry. Everyone made a fast exit after the awards because of the threat of rain.


We traveled to Shelbyville to the Shelby Shifters Car Show on July 18th. The day was hot but thanks to Kennedy Park and all the shade made it tolerable. Seven Mustangs made the trip. Marty and Brenda Clegg, Mike Crosby, Jonathan and Debbie Hunt, Steve and Nancy Merritt, Mike Rains, Charlie Reinhardt, Larry Rixman.

July 11, 21 members traveled to Rising Sun to the Shiners Pride Car Show. It was a fun day, some went to the boat to try their luck and others just relaxed in the shade. After the show we all went to Belterra Casino to have dinner. Sunday June 27th was the Queen City Mustangers Mustang and All Ford Show. We had a great time until about 2pm and a thunder storm came and we all had to go into the school for protection. After the show most of our club went to dinner with Queen City at Raferty’s. We had seventeen registered cars and our club won the club participation of 100.00 which we donated back to Queen City for their charity the Veterans and their families. Award winners: 1st place Dave & Patsy Boling, Marty & Brenda Clegg, Mike & Linda Crosby, Jonathan & Debbie Hunt, John & Bonnie Mynhier, Mike & Nancy Purlee, Charlie Reinhardt, John Rosson. Award of Excellence winners were Michael Burch, Tom Fugate, Steve & Nancy Merritt, Larry Mayfield, Mike & Vanessa Rains, Larry Rixman, Phil Schieber

On Saturday June 26 a group of FCMC members made the trip to Charlestown to attend the Backyard Classics Annual Show. The weather was great and I believe everyone had a good time. Those attending were; Steve and Nancy Merritt, Mike Rains, Larry Mayfield, Phil and Rose Ann Scheiber, Bill and Pat Gibson, Donetta And Skip Swift, Jason Wahl and Larry Rixman. Everyone won a Top 50 Trophy except Larry Mayfield who won Best Late Model Hot Rod, and the Club won Club Participation Award.

Saturday June 19th we held our 15th Annual Car Show which started out bad. We arrived at the show site at 6am to set up but was delayed by severe thunderstorms, finally got started setting up after the rain quit around 7:45am and the show was to start at 8am. After things were set up another down pour came and everything got wet again. With the weather so bad in the morning we had a lower attendance than we had hoped for. But it tuned into a sunny day and the temperature was very hot. The judges had a very hard job but they were able to get all the cars judged and awards were given out early so everyone could go home and cool off. The little red Mustang kids car was won by Roy Merritt. Thanks to all our members who worked under such extreme conditions to help put this show on. And thanks to all the people who braved the rain to bring their beautiful cars to our show.

June 12th we had 15 cars present at the Shop with the Cop Car Show. We had 14 cars winning top 100 and Nancy Merritt receiving the Mayor’s Choice Trophy. We also won Club Participation and a Appreciation Award for the donations from our club. The day started out with a few showers but we all survived even Mike Rains. By 9:00am the Sun cane out and we had a great day after that. The car show itself had 250 cars for a great turn out. Also receiving trophies were: Frank Allen, Alan Brewer and Debbie Carden, Garry and Pam Bushau, Mike and Linda Crosby, Jonathan and Debbie Hunt, Steve and Nancy Merritt, Larry Mayfield, Mike and Nancy Purlee, Mike Rains, Charlie Reinhardt, Larry Rixman, Wendell Roark, Phil and Rose Ann Schieber and Brett Stoy

weather was great and all cars received Top 100 awards.

Yee haw what a great weekend, June 3-6 we traveled to Mustang OK for the Chisholm Trail MCA Show. A group left on Wednesday and another group left on Thursday. The group that left on Thursday traveled along Route 66 stopping at shops and resturaunts along the way. The action started on Friday with a great Welcome Bash with a geunine chuck wagon meal of beef stew, beans, cornbread, rolls peach and cherry cobblers all cooked over an open fire. We also received a commemorative tin cup with our drink. Followed by some live entertainment, even "John Wayne" was there signing autographs. Saturday was the car show and was it ever hot, 102 in the shade. After a hot day in the sun we all met at Braums for ice cream. On Sunday the awards were given out with Dave & Patsy, Mike & Linda getting gold in the Concours class. Marty & Brenda, Mike & Nancy won 1st place in the OD class. Fred Barkley & Debbie Monbeck won 1st in the DD class.

Saturday May 29th 8 cars traveled to Madison IN for the River Run Car show, with more than 350 vehicles participating. We had two trophy winners, Steve and Vickie Fetter and Mike Purlee. Our club tied with the Madison Vette club for the "Club Participation" trophy. After the show several of us went to the Pizza Hut for dinner.

Mike and Linda Crosby, and Gary and Pam Bushau. Top 25 winners were
Jonathan, Charlie, and Steve and Nancy.

May 22nd we went to the Men's Health Fair and Car Show at the Clark Memorial Hospital in Jeffersonville IN. We had 17 cars from our club participating with two winning plaques, Larry Rixman for his 1985 SVO and Mike and Linda Crosby for their 2004 Mustang Cobra. Several of the club members took advantage of the health fair and had tests done. After the show most of us went to Steve and Nancy's house and relaxed with some playing cornhole. Then we went to Jackson's Seafood for dinner. Mike C. even liked it.

Saturday May 15 we went to the Kentucky Thoroughbreds and Horses & Horse Power Car Show on the Great lawn in Louisville. It was a great show and all the proceeds went to Prevent Child Abuse - Kentucky. Included in the registration fee was all the food you could eat for breakfast and lunch. We had 13 cars. With Larry Rixman and Frank Allen winng a plaque for top 30 and Larry Mayfield winning a trophy for "Best Muscle Car 1985-Current". Congratulations guys.

Mustang Club's Pony Round Up. We started our travel with a little rain,
but by the time we were out of Louisville the weather cleared up and
made for a nice day. They had free meals and plenty of door prizes and
everyone seem to have a good time. Our club won the club participation
award with Mike Crosby winning longest distance traveled award.


April 10th we celebrated the Mustangs 46th birthday with a mini car show held at Jim ONeal Ford in Sellersburg IN. The weather was great, first time in ages. We had over 75 vehicles celebrating this event. David Payne was the winner of the Mustang Shelby (signed by Caroll Shelby) peddle car. Thanks to everyone who came to this great event
After the party was over the club went to Sams for dinner and then to Dairy Queen for a cruise-in.
